"Looking South" - 180 miles on foot through the Outer Hebrides, Scotland

The Outer Hebrides are Britain's far flung north-west frontier, an archipelago stretching over 180 miles north to south, thirty to sixty miles off the coast of Scotland. Islands of myth and mystery, of mists and dazzling sunsets across sparkling blue seas, of gentle machair and rugged mountains, home of the Gaelic speaking crofting people.

Using ancient pathways and trade routes that span the numerous islands like a spiders web Ian followed in the footsteps of those that walked and thrived on this rugged landscape 100's of years ago. From remote community to township, crofting village to harbour this became a journey of self directed exploration.

You can read about the journey, written as two features: Part 1 and Part 2
