West Highland Canoe Crossing - December 2017
Alongside photographer and adventurer Neil Irwin, Ian explored the remote and rugged interior of the West Highlands of Scotland by canoe in December 2017. This week long loch to loch journey became a battle of man versus weather. As Storm Caroline lashed the west coast of Scotland and mainland Britain the pair became stranded and confined to a jagged shoreline and their tents for 3 days. When the storm worsened and became a national severe weather warning the two extracted, under a window of calm water, portaging the canoe to a local village and relative safety. They will undertake and attempt to complete the full expedition in Spring 2018.
